Farewell Loch Goil

Jai and Misty bid us farewell as we depart Loch Goil. We have certainly enjoyed our time here. The static caravan we stayed in was very cozy. Our only complaint was the poor wifi, but this farm is at the end of a long single-track road, and we were warned up front that the phone and wifi would not be great here.

Our view of the Carrick Castle.

Jai and Vonna's "working farm" consists of two horses for their own pleasure riding, about 50 chickens, a dozen ducks, and 3-4 geese whose eggs they sell. They have quite a cottage industry with the eggs, but it doesn't pay the mortgage. Hence, the Airbnb rental of the static caravan. They stay quite busy with the vacation rental, but still want to add another caravan and a B&B to increase the income. Vonna is an aircraft engineer who works for an outfit based in Florida from her home office at Carrick Farm! Jai wants to boost the farm/vacation rental income to better supplement Vonna. He's thinking of adding pigs. We asked him why he doesn't have sheep and his response was, "Sheep are stupid!"

I know this is out of order, but I'm working backward and trying to catch up on things. We bid a fond adieu to our static caravan on beautiful Loch Goil. Jai and his wife Vonna were fantastic hosts, and Misty was a very adorable member of the welcoming committee. While we were here we had the opportunity to visit some really terrific and beautiful country side, including Loch Ness, and the Isle of Skye. We made some wonderful friends at the Dumbarton Ward! One of the highlights of the visit will be the day we spent with Jai learning how he bakes bread, and makes Cullen Skink (which is a soup made with smoked haddock, potatoes, and onions in a cream broth, that is to die for), and Sticky Toffee Pudding, which is as evil as it sounds. Thanks, Jai!
