A Walk Around Barcelona

Had a little time on my own after the Gran Prix race in Barcelona, so took the Metro down to the waterfront and strolled up the Las Ramblas. The light was magical, and I kept seeing things I didn't want to forget, so here are some of the better pictures.
This young lady was being watched by her family, and her brother was teasing her a little. The street artists do some amazing work in a very short time. This one was just starting, but you could see after just a few strokes of the charcoal that she was "getting her"

This lady was a little further along. She really captured the beauty of this young mom!

The way the sun was hitting the buildings was going to yield some high contract shots. The city has a long history of really great architecture, and these two buildings are examples of some of the great work that can be seen almost anywhere in the city.

The colors on this one were somewhat muted, and I'm a high intensity color guy, so I liked this one better in B&W.

Same two buildings..different angle. Wanted the dragon in the shot.

Thought the moon and the way the light was hitting the buildings here was pretty special.

This on warmed my heart. In some places in Europe, people are worried and complaining about the "refugee problem". These are human beings..families that have lost everything to try and escape from really horrendous circumstances. They deserve our best efforts to help them get resettled. I know there are some bad guys hiding in the mass of humanity that is coming here, but this city has made it their official policy to help. I'm so proud of my friends in Barcelona!

Loved this shot of a street artist moving to another spot, and the way the sunlight made the wall look golden where it hit.

This gothic cathedral was turned to gold by the late afternoon sunlight. Amazing building. The foundation stones were laid by the Romans for a different purpose.

Just a quiet courtyard with a flower trellis trailing along one wall. Peaceful spot.

Good example of the crowded narrow streets in the gothic quarter of the old city. The lights were just coming on as the sun was a hour from setting. Loved the light.

The sky caught on fire as the sun began to recede. This fine building houses the naval command near the waterfront.

The lion seemed unconcerned that the sky was catching fire!

As the clouds shifted, the light changed, and it was a grand show!

Walked a little further on, and saw this sight on the waterfront. Love how the light plays on the water.

A few minutes later and a slightly different angle, and the pink and purple was electric, plus the lights from the ship reflecting off the water was pretty special.

And finally, the sun almost gone now,
